How to Set Up Netscape 7 for Mac OS X to Send and Receive Email

 

  1. You will need your email server settings to set up your email program.
  2. Open Netscape.

  3. From the Windows menu, choose Mail & Newsgroups.

  4. From the Edit menu, choose Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings. If this is your first time running Netscape Mail, skip to step 6.

  5. Click the Add Account button.

  6. Select Email Account.

  7. Click the Next button.
  8. In the Your Name field, type your name.

  9. In the Email Address field, type our full email address (e.g., johndoe@yourdomain.com).
  10. Click the Next button.
  11. Select POP.

  12. In the Incoming Server field, type your Incoming mail server (POP) (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com).
  13. In the Outgoing Server field, type your ISP's Outgoing mail server (e.g., mail.your-isp.com).
  14. Note: You can use mail.yourdomain.com as your outgoing mail server, but it is highly recommended that you use your ISP's outgoing mail server to send messages. Not only will it transmit the messages to the server faster, but if you use mail.yourdomain.com for outgoing messages, you will be charged for bandwidth usage.
  15. Click the Next button.

  16. In the User Name field, type your email account name (e.g., johndoe@yourdomain.com).
  17. Click the Next button.
  18. Type in a name for your new email account (is used for display only, to distinguish this account from your other email accounts).

  19. Click the Next button.
  20. Verify all the information entered.

  21. Click the Finish button.
  22. When the dialog box opens, enter your email password and check Use Password Manager to remember this password.

  23. Click the OK button
  24. Click the OK button on the alert box that pops up.
  25. From the Edit menu, select Mail & Newsgroups Account SettingsÉ

  26. Select Server Settings.

  27. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP) in the list.

  28. In the Server Name field, type your Outgoing mail server (SMTP)
  29. Check the box next to Use name and password.
  30. In the User Name field, type your email account name (e.g., johndoe@yourdomain.com).
  31. Click the OK button.
  32. Note: When you first send an email, a window asking for you password will appear. Type your email password and click OK to continue.
